Filming “Break” in Springfield

Filming “Break” in Springfieldfeatured

When Rich and I started brainstorming projects, we thought very intentionally about projects that would be a good fit for filming in Springfield.

When I moved here, I remember being struck by the way the city somehow felt both nostalgic and fresh. It seemed to rest in the sweet spot of a Venn diagram: part retro, part current — like a memory of a Midwestern city, scrubbed and made new.

This quality made it such a perfect fit for “Break,” which tackles timeless issues of love and loss against a backdrop of modern complexity.

And it’s such a pretty place. That’s nice, too.

Check out a few stills from the film:

A climactic moment, filmed at one of Rich and my favorite Springfield spots: Moxie Cinema.
